The title is trumpet mercenary, after all! I'm available for hire for many different things.
I've been playing the trumpet for as long as I can remember, and if I only have one true passion in life, music is the one. I feel comfortable playing in virtually any style, such as:
- Postbop/modern (favorite)
- Big band
- New Orleans/dixieland
- Anything with a ton of improvisation
- Bop/swing/mainstream/everything else in between!
- Brass quintet
- Orchestral/concert band
- Salsa bands
- Top 40/party!
- R&B/soul/hip-hop fusion (like the RH Factor)
I've played with a ton of different musicians and bands. Check my performance schedule to get an idea of past, present, and future collaborations.
In addition to my own site, I create websites and applications for others, and I'd love to do yours, too. I've worked for Eckerd College, Ringling College of Art & Design, Sarasota Jazz Project, etc. - check out my portfolio!
I really, really, really like writing music. The only thing that prevents me from doing it all day is the universal constraint of time. My favorite stuff to write is jazz in the modern idiom, but I also love arranging/reworking classic hits (Stevie Wonder), gospel and church music, old crooners, and classical music alike. If you'd like some original music or arrangements, I'd love to work with you! Check out tunes I've composed/arranged.
Yes, I teach! Both trumpet and jazz/improvisational approaches (for trumpet or other instruments). These aren't some generic Skype lessons - I like to actually work closely with people to get a feel for what they're trying to do and achieve. I have access to tremendous musical resources and always like to close out lessons with jam sessions.
Aside from music, IT/devops is my other field. System administration, development, instructional technology, media, code reviews - I love to work on different projects and learn along the way. I've even got a few certifications. Check out my (pseudo)-resume to see what I like working with.
